200 kN CPT Penetrometer Pusher for Use on Excavator

The 200 kN CPT penetrometer pusher has been specially designed to be mounted on an excavator. It comes with CW-couplings and non-spill hydraulic couplings for quick and easy attaching to a hydraulic excavator. It is lightweight and economical with full Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) capabilities. The pusher is powered by the excavator’s hydraulic system and suitable for both electrical and mechanical CPT testing.

The CPT penetrometer pusher features 2 hydraulic cylinders with manually operated valves and a stainless-steel housing for datalogger and computer. It is powered by the hydraulic system of the excavator.

CPT Penetrometer Pusher

A hydraulic penetrometer pusher of classic design, comprising 2 vertical hydraulic cylinders, simultaneously operated, with a stroke of 1350 mm. A thrust block connects the two cylinders. It is capable of driving and pulling the CPT sounding tubes and casing tubes into and out of the ground.

A hydraulic control unit, mounted on a console near the penetrometer pusher, allows the operator to control all functions.

The unit comes complete with 2 guiding tubes, to be applied between the penetrometer and ground level. One for the support of the CPT sounding tubes, the other for casing tubes.

The CPT penetrometer pusher is designed for both electrical and mechanical CPT testing. This penetrometer pusher allows for pushing in and pulling out CPT sounding tubes with a diameter of 36 mm, as well as casing tubes with a diameter of 55 mm, and sampling tubes with a diameter up to 90 mm.

NOTE:  The maximum effective pushing capacity of the stand-alone CPT penetrometer pusher depends on the effectiveness of the anchoring.

The 200 kN CPT penetrometer pusher can be supplied with the following accessories and CPT equipment:

  • Electrical CPT system with standard or piezocone
  • Mechanical CPT system (continuous or discontinuous) with automated read-out
  • Mechanical CPT system (discontinuous) with manual read-out
  • CPT sounding tubes, casing tubes and cutting shoe
  • Toolbox with toolset for maintenance and repair
  • Manual in Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish or Portuguese

The CPT penetrometer rig is designed and built in accordance with national and international standards and regulations. It complies with the provisions of the EC Directive 2006/42/EG and is provided with CE marking certifying that it meets EU consumer safety, health and environmental requirements.

The rig is equipped with a 200 kN CPT penetrometer pusher suitable to accommodate the measuring equipment for all kinds of Cone Penetration Tests with a maximum pushing force of 200 kN, such as:

  • Piezocone CPTU testing
  • Electrical CPT testing with standard electric CPT cone
  • Dissipation testing (when using a piezocone)
  • Seismic SCPT(U) testing with a triaxial seismic adapter
  • Magnetometer soil investigation
  • Continuous and discontinuous mechanical CPT

The Cone Penetration Tests can be performed according to international standards like ISO 22476-1, ISO 22476-12, NF P94-113, Eurocode 7, ISSMGE standard, ASTM D3441-05, ASTM D5778-12, ASTM D6067-96, ASTM D7400-08, and alike. This includes of course Class 1 piezocone CPTU tests and dissipation tests.
