Eko Atlantic City - Gateway to Africa

July 17th, 2013

Eko Atlantic City is a huge land reclamation project in Lagos, Nigeria. It started in 2003 to create a permanent solution to protect Bar Beach in Victoria Island.
Lagos, the commercial capital of Africa’s most populous country, is on course to become the “Dubai” of Africa. And it is doing so with a big bang by embarking Africa’s largest marine engineering project.
When completed Eko Atlantic City will measure 9 million square metres of land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean and reach approx. 2.4 km into the Atlantic. Eko Atlantic will eventually accommodate 250,000 residents!
Already, 2 million square metres of prime land has already been reclaimed. And the bearing capacity of that reclaimed land is to tested. For this job Gouda-Geo will purposely develop and build a 200 kN crawler-based CPT penetrometer pushing rig that is easy to operate, easy to maintain and that can deal with low quality fuel.
